# If I update Collection Through API does that update the live app or just in Adalo?

Hi John,
Any changes to collections will reflect real time in the Adalo apps (won’t change a live screen for the user unless the list is set to always update).

So I have a collection that I needed to be updated daily but I also need to filter/sort. So I should used a native collection and update through the api, right?

It depends on the collection. If you’re just adding records, then Adalo is well suited.
If you’re editing records (manually) you might consider using Airtable of a faster interface depending on how many records you’re editing and the frequency.

But if you use an external collection then you can’t filter/sort.

Yes, you can filter and sort in Adalo or via your API call.
Here’s an example for Airtable:
