In need of text converter

is there a way to transform text into lowercase text? I tried loading normal text into a lowercase textfield, but when stored to database, it was big again.

I have a Username and lowecaseUsername field, i use the lowercase to check for duplicates, like Twitter/X, where you can have usernames like @UsErNaMe72828 and no one else can use it
