I’m experiencing a significant delay when loading PWAs connected to a custom domain (pointing to hosting.adalo.com), and it is severely affecting the user experience.

Here is exactly what happens when a user visits the domain:

  1. A light loading screen appears first.

  2. Then, it transitions into a darker loading screen.

  3. Finally, after a long delay, the app actually loads.

To rule out performance issues related to my app’s size or data, I tested this on two completely different apps: a complex 30-page app, and a completely blank 1-page app with no database. The result is exactly the same on both.

I even tried routing the domain through Cloudflare before pointing it to Adalo, but the issue persists. The delay seems to be entirely on Adalo’s domain connection/routing side.

Because of this long wait, it feels like the app is never going to open, which gives a terrible first impression to users. In theory, this domain connection should be almost instant.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a workaround, or is the Adalo team working on a fix for this routing delay?

Hi Santiago, is this what you’re experiencing too or is this something happening on every open? : The PWA version of the app only opens after 2-3 attempts

Hey friend, that ALWAYS happens with PWAs… it takes a long time to open… I mean, to connect the domain www.xxxxxxxxx.com with Adalo… it’s not instant, it takes ages to load the PWA… the user experience is terrible because many people tell me it doesn’t open, and then after a few seconds Adalo connects to the domain and displays the PWA… I tried with an app with no pages, no database, and with thousands of pages… it’s not a problem with the app… it’s a problem with how Adalo displays the app

I’ve submitted numerous tickets over the years about this. It’s not an app problem, but rather an issue with the speed at which Adalo connects the domains to the app. I even created an app without a database, pages, or components… and it’s the same story.

In this example, you see the loading message, which means Adalo hasn’t loaded the PWA yet. Then the loading indicator changes to blue/green, indicating a connection, and after a few seconds, the first screen finally appears.
