Error: failed to read PNG signature

I keep receiving the same error. I thought I found a solution using the method on the link below but it did not work. All of my images are PNG images and they are all Placeholders with the exception of one image which is a GIF. Not sure what to do now or even how to solve this problem. ???

error: failed to read PNG signature: file does not start with PNG signature.
error: file failed to compile.

Hi,

I optimized the png files with the PhotoBulk app on mac. Then replaced them on the database.

But I think any other similar app is good for this, like tinypng or something else.
