Hello. Since I’m translating this from Japanese, the English might sound strange.
I’m creating a screen that displays the user’s location and keeps the map visible. I want to prevent the smartphone screen from dimming or turning off while this screen is open.
I checked past topics such as “How to prevent the screen from turning off,” but the Screen Awake component doesn’t seem to be working anymore. The Screen Awake component might still work, but it’s no longer available in the marketplace.
The suggested workaround of playing a looping blank video with the PLYRVideo component also seems unavailable now. I tried using the free Video component to play a looping video, but the screen still dimmed after some time, so video playback doesn’t seem to prevent screen sleep.
Is there any current method or component that can keep the screen awake?
@njimmy10 made a component in the past (only works with native apps) and I’ll check with Jimmy if it’s still available to use. If not, this would be a component request and I’ll convert this topic to a component request topic so others who interested can add their vote.
Jimmy mentioned that this component is available to use and you need to send him a DM for get it added into your app! Would you be able to send him a DM in this forum?
Thank you for confirming. If it becomes necessary to implement it, I’ll try sending you a DM.
In that case, does “to send him a DM in this forum” mean replying here with an @‑mention? I’ve seen system email notifications before, but I’m not sure whether there’s a way to directly send someone a DM on the forum.
