Adalo & Wordpress

Hi guys,

I want to get some advice on using WordPress and Adalo. We currently have an app on Adalo and a website on WP.

We were planning on using the WordPress as the simple front end and having users log in to use the Adalo web for the user portal or via the app.

POTENTIAL ROADBLOCKS:

  • The database structure
  • The Adalo web app services doesn’t seem to be responsive
  • If we don’t use the Adalo web app for the user portal it means we need to spend a lot more time intergraring air table to WP.
  • if we are spending more time on the WP site Adalo REALLY looses its value.

QUESTIONS:

  • Can you make the Adalo web app responsive ?
  • How is everyone else managing this type of setup?
  • Can you set Adalo to work out if you are on mobile or desktop so one will send to the mobile web app and others to the desktop web app?
  • It seems the best option would be to focus on WP and just use Adalo as the native app option

CONCLUSION:

  • I love Adalo but if the above can’t be solved we might be forced to pack our bags and leave. It is very sad as I know other sites offer responsive web apps
  • Can you make the Adalo web app responsive ?
  • If by responsive you mean faster, then not really, we are waiting on the Adalo team for this.
  • How is everyone else managing this type of setup?
  • You can simply link to an adalo webapp
  • Can you set Adalo to work out if you are on mobile or desktop so one will send to the mobile web app and others to the desktop web app?
Yes- see adalo shared database help documents

  • It seems the best option would be to focus on WP and just use Adalo as the native app option

  • probably , if you want a seemless integration on WP

Hi Hugh,

  • The database structure

I’m not sure where the roadblock for this is exactly?

  • The Adalo web app services doesn’t seem to be responsive
  • Can you make the Adalo web app responsive ?

There are design techniques you can do to achieve an “almost” responsive feel but it is certainly restricting on design. (see www.extensions.menu as an example)

  • Can you set Adalo to work out if you are on mobile or desktop so one will send to the mobile web app and others to the desktop web app?

No, right now this is not possible. But you can provide alternative links for the user to choose which one they want and create 2 separate apps for each scenario with a linked database between them.

We are aware of the restrictions we impose on responsiveness onf webapps and it is on our roadmap to improve but at this moment in time it is now our main priority as we certainly do focus our efforts on mobile over web at this moment.
