Hey all, I know a lot of you are waiting on these features so just an update on where we are…
What’s finished:
- New location property type
- A new global setting for your Google Maps API token
- Search for an address inside a Collection and save it to your DB
- Search for and save an address inside a form
- Grab a full address or individual parts (region, zip, coordinates, etc.) in Magic Text
What we’re wrapping up right now: - Filtering lists by distance
- Visibility filters based on distance
- Grabbing the current device location on any device
What’s next: - Update Maps component to be compatible with the new location features
- Sort lists by distance
- Location data CSV import/export
- Conditional actions based on location
- Standalone address search component (outside a form)
- Custom formatting options for some location sub-properties like coordinates
We want to make sure that location features are a first class feature in Adalo, fully usable across the platform from launch. We’re working hard to get there. Thanks for your patience!

Josh Johnson Has Adalo considered placing PragmaFlow’s location components front and center in the marketplace in the meantime?
After installing these components, I was able to do everything that I have been aiming to do in my app since late-2019. Their components are now the center piece of my app now, and my users have gave overwhelmingly positive feedback on the location functionality.

Steven McKeown - just installed your geofilteredlist component from pragmaflow. I want to be able to show a list of places with the name that is input by the user. Imagine the search bar in google maps. Is that possible using this?
Josh Johnson In this next update, will users be able to search for places (ie “Starbucks”) or is this addresses only (ie “123 Pleasant Ave”?
Josh Johnson: Yes. YES. Sweet! Is there a way to start alpha testing now? I’ll file bugs for you and would even be willing to run test cases. 
Highly motivated because my project is blocked and the clock is ticking. I was about to hire someone to build a custom component. I don’t need this functionality to be publicly available. I’m still prelaunch but user testing now.
Elliot Robia: Not quite there yet but check back in a few weeks. In the mean time, getting yourself set up with a Google Maps API Key is a good step if you don’t have one already. If you have that, you’ll be able to hit the ground running when we’re ready to open this up.

Josh Johnson: Sounds good. Yes, I’ve got a key and the Places API enabled on Google Cloud, etc. I have a two page spec written for a custom component, because I didnt realize Places would be supported. Super excited.
