Josh Johnson: Appreciate it Josh!

Josh Johnson: done, thx!

Steven McKeown: Thank you for that! I found your stuff on Github when I was researching Adalo. Congratulations on your initiative. I haven’t installed the component yet, but I will this week. I’m studying your tutorial, I wish I could make a version of Portuguese for the community of Adalors in Brazil (LATAM).

Steven McKeown: This is great! Please keep us posted.

Josh Johnson: hi josh, do we have any news about it? how is it possible that the most requested feature still does not have a resolution date?

Steven McKeown: Hello Steven! Thanks for your created component. You can help a newbie and explain how you can install it. I am not a programmer and am currently building an application. Thanks for the help.

Hey Josh Johnson
Don’t get me wrong but, I am one of the early adopters of Adalo, which means I have been waiting almost 3 years for this component. Steven McKeown has done a great job creating it for us but, after more them 30 days we still don’t see it in the marketplace, even though he is doing everything necessary to have it published.
So I am wondering if Adalo is holding his component back because they may be working on something? And if so, are you guys intend to make us wait for 3, 4 months more?
I don’t believe my app will survive that long without this feature, So, why not publish his component?

Bruno Ribeiro: Hi Josh Johnson, I agree with Bruno. I would like an update on the status of this, if possible. Thanks,
Claire

well, I think Adalo’s team sees this channel as one single-way conversation. They come here, write something, we then agree, make some comments, ask some questions… and that it..No answer is ever given, at least not here. The Forum is also another place where they may answer some questions but officially, they are not there to answer you.
So what is the channel? Support Tickets? Should I help Adalo to improve the platform by sending support tickets? The only place where I get real answers is the slack channel. Scott Massey is always receptive and participative. The rest is a shadow

Bruno Ribeiro: Hey Bruno. Steven and I met a while back to discuss the component and to be open about how we are baking similar functionality into the platform. As I understand it, Steven’s component grabs your location as soon as you hit a screen without any interaction from the user. The marketplace rules for third party components require the functionality to be tied to a visual element. As it currently stands, this is more of an action. We would love to have actions in the marketplace but we’re not quite ready for them now. If I misunderstand how the component works and it does follow all our guidelines, please correct me and we can see about getting it published! I also recommend reaching out to Steven if you’d like his component immediately. I could be wrong but I think it is available as a private component today!

Josh Johnson: Not exactly, the last version I am using creates a button and the location is required after the user’s interaction by touching that button.

Claire Bilski Bruno Ribeiro and others. I have created a new private marketplace that will let you install the components without the need to be a developer.

Josh Johnson: woohooooooo!!!

Hey all, we’re starting a big chunk of work to improve location functionality across Adalo and this is just one piece of it (also see Location Property Type). Over the next few months we’re hoping to add address search, the ability to save locations to the database, and an action for grabbing the logged in user’s location to do things like filter and sort lists based on distance. We have a lot to do here so we appreciate your patience but I’m leading a group of folks who will be dedicated to this effort full time. Thanks!

Josh Johnson: yeaaaah

Josh Johnson: finally!!! I’m gonna cry :sob:

Josh Johnson: fantastic, really really fantastic. keep us updated on the timing. Thank you
