Streaming Spotify from Helix to a Yamaha RX-V4A

I have Helix TV and a Yamaha Rx-V4A receiver. The receiver has WiFi and is able to stream music from various sources such as Amazon and various radio stations that also broadcast on the Internet.

What I would like to do is “forward” Spotify from the Helix box to my receiver (no TV). Is this possible and if so how do I do it??

The Helix app I installed on my Samsung phone is of no use or I’m missing something.

Hi there! While Adalo is a great platform for building apps, your question seems to be more focused on using the Helix TV service with a Yamaha receiver. This topic is a bit off-target for the Adalo community.

I’d recommend checking out the Videotron forum or searching online resources about Helix and Yamaha receiver compatibility. There you might find better guidance on how to achieve what you’re looking for.

That being said, if you have any questions related to building apps with Adalo, feel free to ask! We’re always happy to help here.

No, directly forwarding Spotify from the Helix box to your Yamaha receiver likely isn’t possible. Here’s why:

  • Helix limitations: The Helix system isn’t designed to cast audio to external devices like receivers. While the Helix app allows controlling playback, it probably won’t stream audio directly to your phone for external playback.
  • Receiver functionality: Even though your Yamaha receiver supports streaming services, it likely requires its own Spotify app or integration to function.

However, there are alternative ways to achieve what you want:

  1. Cast from phone: Use the Spotify app on your phone and cast it to a Chromecast or similar device connected to your receiver. This allows you to control playback from your phone and enjoy Spotify through your receiver.
  2. Bluetooth: If your phone and receiver support Bluetooth, you can pair them and play Spotify through your phone’s Bluetooth connection.
  3. Yamaha receiver app: Check if Yamaha offers a dedicated app for your receiver that allows you to access streaming services like Spotify directly. This would eliminate the need for the Helix box altogether.

Here are some resources to help you further:

  • Look into Yamaha’s support website or app store for your receiver model to see compatible streaming services and any dedicated apps.
  • Search online for “[Cast Spotify to Yamaha receiver]” to find specific instructions on using casting devices.
