Adalo & Xano App

Hi all,

I want to build an Adalo app with Xano as the backend and I am looking for feedback.

Is is still on the professional plan only?strong text

Does it work well?

Does the setup still work with all the changes that’s been made in the last year?

Hi there,

Yes, you can totally build an Adalo app using Xano as your backend.

Here’s the official guide to help you connect Adalo with Xano:

If you want Xano+Adalo setup you must be on the Team or business plan in Adalo. However, you can still use Xano as an external collection if you are on the professional plan.

Check out the pricing details here:

And yep, the Adalo + Xano setup still works great as long as it’s connected properly. Raise a support ticket if you run into any issues!

Is there a possibility of a xano backhand for existing applications as well?

Hi there,

Unfortunately, you can’t use Xano as the backend for existing applications as of now, you would need to rebuild the app from scratch for the Adalo + Xano setup.

However, you can still use Xano as an external collection within your existing app if you are on the professional plan or above.

But that would require a lot of manual work, wouldn’t it? It’s not like the interaction you offer from Scratch, that’s a lot of work I guess.

You’re right, it can involve some manual setup. But once the initial structure is in place, things usually run smoothly.

Most of us start with a basic Adalo plan, and as the app develops, we eventually move to the higher-tier plans (which is when we need Xano).** This structure is only relevant for people who start from scratch — and only if they build under the expensive plan from day one.

In the real customer journey, the chances of that happening are close to zero. I’m confident your data supports what I’m saying.

I’d really appreciate it if you’d consider allowing non-from-scratch apps to also connect to Xano — without requiring a manual rebuild from our side (if technically feasible).

When you move to a Xano backend the front end flows generally need an overhaul.
Yes it’s time consuming but by using Adalo for database initially is so much quicker. It’s a trade off most would accept to get an MVP quickly developed.

Using Xano presents plenty of opportunities to make the app more lightweight, just run as much as you can in Xano.

I upload a lot of stuff there over time, I have to say I have never seen anything happen there.

It’s a ghost area. And it’s a waste of time to upload stuff there.

Hi @nadavma2,

I’m really sorry you had that experience, and I truly appreciate you sharing your feedback.

Our usual process is to prioritize features based on the number of requests we receive, so we can focus on what will have the biggest impact for the majority of our makers. That said, we absolutely understand that every feature suggestion is important, and we know how much thought and effort goes into building your apps.

It’s possible that the areas you’ve suggested haven’t seen updates yet due to lower request volume, but please know that we do keep track of every submission through our product board. We’re committed to supporting our makers and will continue working toward improvements across the board.

Thanks again for being a part of the community, your input really helps shape the future of Adalo.
