App rejected in app review spam design

Hi there, can anyone help us? We are trying to get our app accepted in app review/published in app store, but they keep rejecting it because of “guideline 4.3. (a) Design.spam.

The case is that we are to friends working on this global travel app. At the same time, my friend had an idea for a similar app- but to just one particular country.

Now hers is accepted, but ours keeps getting rejected- based on the following:

“We continue to notice your app shares a similar binary, metadata, and or concept as apps submitted to the app store by other developers, with only minor differences.”

Our app’s bundle id’s and appleid, contains both our names, while her app only contains her own name.

How do we go on from now?

And isn’t all apps created in Adalo the “same metadata” because its based on the same developing tools, components?

Please help us keep our sanity, as we are very frustrated. Thank you so much in advance.

Kind Regards Bendine and Josefine

Ps. if screenshots of both apps here, can visualise the problem, please let us know.

Hi @JoseDine,

I believe you need to work with Apple’s moderation team to find a workaround for this. Apple could be strict in case of spam designs - one of the reasons is they protect their users from “false” apps which mimic real ones.
So what you can do:

  • explain this case for them and ask Apple’s moderation for an advice.
  • unpublish the first app and resubmit your “joint” one, with some explanations about your case
  • check with Apple if you could have 2 apps published for different countries
  • change the design in one of the apps and resubmit.

I’ve seen a case when the app was rejected because another app with the same design on the same account existed, even though it was unpublished. An explanation to Apple moderation helped.

Best regards, Victor.
