I built an application recently for children, and I am facing an issue. I just uploaded the app to the Apple Store now, but what is showing me on production is not good enough, like the one I built. What I built and previewed on Adalo preview was looking great until after I uploaded it to the Apple Store and Google Play Store. The app deals with video explaining each screen for the children; I will attach a screenshot.
Is always like this in Adalo. Native builds are slightly different from web preview. That’s why there is testflight and google closed beta to test and fix your bugs/visual glitches before public release.
Hey @HALCYONCRE8IVE,
Can you please share screenshots of the original screen in the editor, and the screen in the web preview?
Thank you!
I know about this. What I think is wrong here is that maybe the layout design is having issues, or maybe I will have to put all those videos in a container for easy coverage. For real, i dont know where the error might be coming from from
Thank you @HALCYONCRE8IVE for sharing the screenshots. Can you please confirm if you’re using the video player component or the Youtube component?
Because in your first screenshot for the Testflight, it shows a Youtube video player, but in the new screenshots, there’s a native video player component in the editor.
Thank you, I have used the YouTube video component before, but I have already changed it to a video component. However, the results are still the same.
In case you’re using the Video Player component, please make sure to have the (Video Cropping) option set to (Crop video to fill space) instead of (Show full video), as mentioned in the image below.
Also please make sure that the components of the screen are not intersecting.
Is it going to work for the video? Also, it gets stuck at a point where I have a button and a hidden list to create an answer data. What do you think might be wrong with that, too?
If I remember correctly, I had issues in the past trying to get display a YouTube video through the video component but it didn’t displayed in my Android phone (native). It worked for web, and native worked for some few device models. Then used the YouTube component for YouTube URLs and all good. I think it’s mentioned in the help docs too. : Video Component | Adalo Resources
Not sure if it’s safe to stretch out the YouTube component, let me check with the team and update here to see if it’s a limitation or a bug. If those videos are in small sizes, you could store in a collection in the app database and use the vertical video component made by NoCode Monkey (Or else the web view component with the YouTube URLs)
@ishantanusrivastava, would your advanced video player would help here? : https://components.theuncoders.com/
Thank you and have a great day!

Hey @HALCYONCRE8IVE,
Thanks for the update. The Video component works better in most cases, especially in the new Responsive Editor. It offers you full control over layout, cropping, and sizing without the gaps or stretching associated with the YouTube component in older builds.
For the layout issue, hidden or invisible lists placed incorrectly often cause this. They can block or affect the visibility and positioning of other components, even when they aren’t visible.
To test this, let’s temporarily remove the hidden list and see if the layout issue will be solved. If it does, that list is the issue.
You can also delete it, move it to a new screen, or create a new screen and re-add the components without any visibility conditions. Then add them back one by one to identify the conflict.
I haven’t seen any layout issues with the YouTube or the new Video component in my apps, but legacy apps can have problems like gaps or different layouts between web and Android. Those issues are mostly resolved in the new Responsive Editor. If you’re still on legacy, moving the app to the new editor would automatically fix a lot of these problems.
If it still doesn’t look right, tag me with a screenshot of the screen components setup. I will identify the issue quickly.
Good luck!

Thank you @Ali-Bazzi , @Dilon for the detailed explanation and support, but I would like to ask this question, please.
- Is it possible to stretch the video component in a vertical position, and will it not be split? because i just change all the youtube video component into a video component
- I have some hidden lists inside the app, but not on the front page that is split. does it mean that the reason for splitting of the screen is from the screen with the hidden lists?
- What other component should I use if that one doesn’t work?
Hey @HALCYONCRE8IVE, You’re welcome!
1- Stretching video: Set Video Cropping to “Crop video to fill space” (not “Show full video”), and it should be fine in stretching the video component vertically. And in case you’d like to have multiple videos in the screen, I recommend using the (Vertical Video) component from the Marketplace.
2- Hidden lists: hidden lists on the same screen can block layout/positioning in native builds if placed incorrectly. But if it’s not on the same screen, then it’s not the problem. In case you had hidden lists within the same screen, you can temporarily delete or move the hidden list to test, if the issue fixes, that’s the cause.
Other component: You can use the (Vertical Video) component if you’d like the video to fill the screen or if you’d like to display multiple videos. Another option would be to move to Responsive Engine where most legacy apps layout issues are fixed.
Test in a new native build
Let me know if you have any questions.
Hi @Dilon
Thanks for tagging me. I think the advance video player can handle it but for portrait videos I recommend using a video component from NoCode Monkey (Vertical Video). They have a dedicated video player perfect for this purpose. This will cover the entire screen instead of relying on the standard video players.
Thank you so much.
You’re very welcome!
