How to Fix MASSIVE Content Layout Shifts in Adalo?

Hey all,

I’m seeing some MASSIVE content layout shifts (CLS), ie. elements on the screen are moving around when the page loads. It’s really bad… It doesn’t just happen in the web preview, it also happens within the native app itself. I

Adalo is great in so many ways, but this sadly does make the app feel a bit cheap and nasty…

I tried so many things, like using sections, fixed width and height, rectangles, you name it. Still seeing elements shifting around on page load.

This seems to be a big problem in Adalo and I see there’s others who have complained about this in the past.

Here’s a brief video to show you the problem in action:

Any ideas? if there are any Adalo experts around, let me know.

I’m out of ideas.

Hi

This always happens when the page elements load. Loading is slow so the shifts are discernable. Hopefully once the performance upgrades are completed, this should be less stark. I have had to deal with this alot especially when lists are being loaded.

There surely has to be some kind of workaround or hot fix?

Hmm…that I would like to know too. I am not an Adalo expert. I just got my app on Testflight & in Closed Testing on Play Store. I have grown to accept the “jerking” until the elements are fully loaded. Looking forward to the future.

I have seen an app built on no-code that loads incredibly fast, without element “jerk” but Adalo is much prettier!

Other users too wrestle with this Screen Jerks Up or Down

I haven’t found any way to fix this. I initially started with just components, then shifted to Sections with Containers and adjusted the settings to ensure that they appeared well across devices. I still have problems with sections jerking and moving but it is at least better for scaling and controlling the look of the app.

If you are looking at it purely in Preview Mode, it definitely jerks a lot. I typically ignore this and look at it as a published page (PWA) or while in testing on the app stores to ensure it does it less or minimally. I have found that once the user uses the mobile app for the first time (visiting the different app screens), I believe it does some type of caching that allows the app to view screens more smoothly.

I think the majority of app builders that are responsive utilize sections that are scalable/responsive to the design.

Hi everyone, I’ve had the same layout shift issue in Adalo. What helped me was using rectangles with fixed sizes to keep the layout steady while loading. Also, keeping the design simple and testing the app as a PWA made things better.
