Hi, I am looking to make a list search that only shows results once typing.
Or, alternatively, is there a way to have a search bar on its own that has the option to link to another page?
I am aware of the visibility settings, and this help topic, but when I click visibility for the list and then ‘sometimes’, the input option is not available. Does anyone know why this is?
You’d like to make a list search that only shows results once typing.
When you type the letters in the Input Field, the list is filtered by the content automatically.
The results are shown once typing.
If you don’t want the list to be shown before you type, you can add a conditional visibility on it, saying Sometimes Visible → Will be visible if Input is not equal to Empty (don’t type Empty, you need to leave the field empty).
If you need different behaviour, please provide some more details how the search, list and screens should behave.
It seems that you didn’t implement these visibility settings correctly, as they work perfectly.
I have created a video instruction for you, how to implement list filtering along with conditional visibility when input is empty. Here is it: adalo misc list filtering - YouTube
If this is NOT what you need, then unfortunately I don’t think I can help you, as you refuse to provide any additional information or explanations.
First of all, I did not know that the input function could be used to create a search. I tried to do this independently, however could find no way of doing it. Also the tutorial linked to the original reply in my post does not describe this, it only describes adding a ‘search list’ component. Maybe this could be amended?
Now I think this is why I’m getting into trouble. Because when I open the visibility settings for ‘search list’ module, I cannot edit anything about the visibility of search results, only general module visibility. This is why I cannot edit the visibility settings in the way I described. Am I right? Here is an image to outline.
