New Component: Advanced Dropdown — Now on the Marketplace! 🎉

I’m looking for a way to automatically update a record “on selection” from dropdown but I’m hitting a roadblock.

The new component has an “On Selection” action and I’m trying to update a relationship field. The dropdown shows a second collection with a relationship to the collection I’m viewing, preselected with the current relationship. I can only see a way to save a text output.

On the original dropdown form combined with a button (set to update record), the selected option will show in “Other Components → Dropdown → Selected Record”

Advanced dropdown doesn’t show in the “Other components” at all when using a button.

Am I missing something here?

Looks like this is an improvement, shared with the team! Thank you and have a great day!

Hey Dilon, Have another issue that has popped up for me and the advanced dropdown. I recently started test flight with my app and I am working through issues on my iphone and below is what I am seeing through testflight vs working on a desktop staging preview. I will share images below in a sequence the user would take when using the advanced dropdown.

Apple testFlight screen shot - user touches the filter icon and the advanced dropdown bar pops up

Staging Preview on desktop - User touches the filter icon and the advance dropdown bar comes up with “filter by types” in the bar

Apple testflight screen shot - user touches the advance dropdown bar and the filters show up and if the user touches a filter for example Rosé - it filters all Rosé wines correctly but the name Rosé never pops up in the advance dropdown.

BELOW IS through STAGING PREVIEW -

If the user touches the type of wine to be filter by for ex. Rosé, then the word Rosé fills in the advanced dropdown bar and the wines are filter accurately by Rosé.

Differences -

Apple TestFlight the user touches the filter icon and the advance dropdown comes up and no placeholder “filter by type” the filter by type dropdown occurs when the user touches the empty dropdown bar and if the user touches the wine type it filters by wine type but the the advance dropdown remains empty.

Staging preview the advance dropdown is working as it should.

How should I fix this so the next Apple ios build will have this working properly. Thanks so much Liz.

Interesting, thanks for sharing this Liz! Could you also share a screenshot of the component setup from the editor?

Hi Dilon- thanks for the prompt response. Here are my screenshots of the components and my set up. Sometimes I don’t know if I set these components up correctly or even in the most efficient way… I just work it until it works. So, If you see something that looks wrong please point it out. Liz - Oh, on the staging preview on my desktop the dropdown does not hug the dropdown bar - it works just fine when I view it on my phone as a published web app and also in ios test flight so I am not bothered by the floating dropdown on my desktop view since my app will only for mobile phone use.

Hi Liz,

What happens if you add a value for the ‘Arrow Icon Size’ field/slider, map the dropdown selected value back for the ‘Default Selection’ field, and test with a new build?

Let me know if it’s still same, will then share this with the team!

Thank you and have a great day!

Set Arrow Icon Size to 18 (previously blank) and in the image above set the default selection. Is this what you needed me to do???

I rebuilt and tested on a new TestFlight build, but the issue persists: the dropdown bar still shows no text at all on iOS- the “filter by types” placeholder or the selected wine variety name after making a choice “Red”. Filtering itself works correctly ,wines are filtered by the variety. It’s the dropdown bar’s visible text is empty.

For comparison, the same component works exactly as expected on web staging. Would you like me to send you a video? Liz

Yes.

Thanks for the update! Seems it didn’t worked which is definitely a bug, sharing with the team now.
