Are the programs built with this platform just simple database programs or can it perform more complex functions?

For example, can it upload an audio or video and make changes to it?
Can upload audio and videos yes. What do you mean by make changes to it?
For example, is it possible to upload a picture and scale or transform the image or change the colors inside the photo?
Is it possible to add other libraries to this app?
So you can connect to APIs that can do things for you, for example apply a filter etc.
In terms of some kind of on-screen image editing you might need a custom component made for you. React native developers can create Adalo components.
