Block calendar when you already have a scheduled time

My app is a calendar app for healthcare professionals, when a professional schedules an appointment with a patient, for example for August 31st at 10am, I need to lock the calendar so I don’t have another appointment for August 31st at 10am. Does anyone know how to make this calendar lock?
