Do’s and Don’ts for app speed

Hey all,

A lot of time has passed since the heated discussions on this thread… and I’m pleased to come back to this conversation and appreciate the Adalo team for the incredible progress on app speed and performance in the last year!

Be it a PWA or a native app, an iOS or an android version — Adalo apps now perform really really well, and I no longer need to limit myself in terms of what features I can add to an app screen or to look for various hacks to make the apps usable.

Our apps now serve tens of thousands of customers without any issues.

I think it’s important to acknowledge this, and for the new or potential Adalo builders to see this and be encouraged to start building on Adalo.

Kudos to everyone!

Could not agree more!

We were seriously considering building our own app after seeing our Adalo built apps become slow and slow.
But the last year has seen a massive performance improvement.

Our only comment would be the initial loading time for PWA as it takes a while to fetch those components. This is an area that can be improved for sure.

Hello @Vykintas ,
This is quite encouraging to hear when I am struggling with crawling app.
I have native iOS and android app, it’s a social networking app with pictures and videos. With handful of test users struggling with sluggish performance.
Wondering if I am not taking the advantage of Adalo performance improvements, is there a way do this analysis? Any guidance would be helpful.

Thanks
Gunjan

Gunjan,

I in purpose tried to always avoid videos on no-code apps so haven’t had experience building such apps.

The reason being is that videos are really heavy and apps like Facebook etc. have hundreds of top tier developers optimising for them… so even despite Adalo’s great progress on app performance, I’ll not be surprised if your app ends up being quite slugish

Video-heavy apps are, unfortunately, quite a beast on a different scale… but maybe I’m wrong. Would be interesting to hear other Adalo builders share about this.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Any social app is incomplete with video content in today’s time. Hope adalo team looks in to it. Meanwhile I will try to reduce the video content.
