Its stored in universal format and displayed in the format of the user. So yes - in Europe its shown dd/mm/yy

I have the same problem with an app !!!
Just to say that if you are using Chrome as a browser, it defaults to US English as a language and date format setting, and IGNORES the setting of your computer/OS. So if you are in Europe you need to change the language setting of Chrome itself to get the right date format.
I think all other browsers use the language settings of the OS.
