I have seen many forum questions around the above topic but unfortunately no clear answer. The situation seems quite straightforward: For my event calendar app, I have a collection called “events”, which includes a relationship field with the unique ID linking to a sub collection called “eventDetails”. My screen gets the event date from the events collection and the event details, such as description and a picture, from the eventDetails collection.
This works fine, as long as I populate the relationship field manually, selecting the correct ID from a drop-down list. However, I have thousands of records, and a manual data entry for all records is impossible! I need to make make a bulk upload into that field.
Here is the issue: I have no problem to populate all text or number fields via csv upload but that relationship field does not accept any upload. The field just stays empty, see below screenshot. I do know the required values, in fact they are the ones written in number field “EventDetail_ID” but I can neither import, nor copy them into the relationship field.
Can you please help me? How can I make a bulk upload to the above “EventDetail” field, or alternatively copy the values from the number field to the relationship field? I am desperate.
Thank you!
Please have a look here Importing Records from a CSV File | Adalo Resources, select the “In Depth” explanation, paragraph 3: One-to-Many: Can be matched up as long as the first property of the records of the other collections are identical. For instance, if importing Trips with a relationship to a user john@test.com, the Users collection must have a user with this email and have Email set as the first property in the collection.
Of course “EventDetail” collection values in the 1st column should be unique so that import works correctly.
No matter, what I do, the .csv import will not populate the relationship field “EventDetail”.
Question: How can I get the above Events_Adalo collection to accept my values for the realtionship field? Alternatively, how can I copy accross the values from the adjacent number field?
Yet another possibility might be to link the two collections NOT using a relationship field, but via any other matching fields. Is that possible? Is it this, what your quoted instruction is referring to?
Note: I know how to populate the relationship field manually, selecting a value from the drop-down list. This works perfectly for a limited selection of test data, but for 2000+ records, it is not an option.
Thank you for helping me with this, it is crucial for the functioning of this app.
With best regards
