Live Location Tracking

Hi everyone,

We’re finalizing our app connecting restaurants, food pantries, and volunteers for meal donations. Our main challenge now is implementing live location tracking for volunteers or an estimated delivery time.

Currently, we are using deep links from Waze that launch the app with directions. Users can share their drive via SMS, allowing restaurants and food pantries to track their location in real-time. This is not the best UX and we want to allow users to do everything within our Adalo app.

We are trying to understand if it’s feasible to obtain the Waze drive-sharing link without leaving the Adalo app and if is there a way to embed a live location map directly within Adalo using iFrame? Or are there third-party integrations or Adalo workarounds for smoother live tracking?

Hi there @Helenakin!

I’m sorry, but I’m not really sure how you can do that. You can add a button to link users to the URL for the drive, but I don’t know how to put it directly in your app yet.

You can try experiment with the Geolocation feature. I saw this course on the Adalo App Academy, it might help a little: Location Master Class: Building A Gig Economy Delivery App (Think Uber)

Live location tracking is not possible in Adalo. Even with custom component you can’t do background tasks (when phone is locked etc).
