Login with QR code system

Does anyone know how to create a login system using a QR code? I want it to function like the login process on Discord, where users can log into their accounts from another device by scanning a QR code. Additionally, it should include a numeric PIN option for devices that do not have a camera.

Thank you! (I am on the Adalo Starter plan.)

Hi there!

I will need to start developing the same in 6 month and i start to wonder how to do it in Adalo. Since is not possible do it easy way because Adalo has not de feature in itself, i put my thinking on create a QR with user credential (of course not revealing the info otherwise become not legal) and connect it in some way to the login system.

I still not sure how to do it but maybe we can find the way in case it exists.

This was somewhat helpful but also pretty confusing, lol. I get the QR code with the credentials, but that’s not what I was trying to do since it wouldn’t work the same way as it does on Discord’s login page. Thanks for this though!

They say:

Discord’s QR code login allows users to quickly and securely log into the desktop or browser version of Discord using their mobile app. Instead of typing in a username and password, you scan a QR code displayed on the desktop/browser with your phone. This eliminates the need to manually enter login credentials, enhancing convenience and potentially improving security.

Here’s how it works:

1. Open Discord on Desktop/Browser: On your computer, navigate to the Discord login page.
2. Select “Login with QR Code”: Find and select the option to log in using a QR code.
3. Open Discord Mobile App: Launch the Discord mobile app on your smartphone.
4. Go to Settings: Tap on your profile icon, then navigate to the settings menu.
5. Scan QR Code: Select “Scan QR Code” and use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code displayed on your computer.
6. Confirm Login: A confirmation prompt will appear on your phone. Tap “Yes, log me in” to complete the login process.

This method streamlines the login process, making it quicker and potentially more secure by reducing the risk of errors or phishing attempts associated with manual login. Discord also offers other login methods, such as using passkeys for passwordless login, according to Discord Support.

So, it works matching your credential, it can MAYBE be done in the same way.

I will need it so i have to investigate.

oooh, i understand now. This is exactly whats I’m going for and I think it may be possible but would probably need custom components. I might work on this
