Magic text not working for text fields

Hi guys, i am experiencing a perculiar problem. I have created a button to submit to a collection. What i am seing is that the magic text functionality is able to pick numerical fields with no issues but at the same time it is not able to pick the text fields at all.

How do we approach the issue?
