I think it’s because it groups it to the top with the app bar so it shows on the top so when the user scrolls it’s fixed to the top with the app bar. Btw, the app bar is fixed to the top by default.
If you want a more official response, I would suggest you submit a support ticket, but tbh it wouldn’t be worth the time to fill out the form for something like this.

I just don’t love magic incantations when using my tools. If I understand why something works it helps me flesh out my mental model of how the tool works.
Yeah I don’t know the exact answer to why that’s the workaround but it took me a couple of hours to figure out that workaround, it was a couple of fonts ago btw.
