Making app bar button larger - Icon doesn't show when in App Bar. Why?

I’m looking to make the burger icon button larger in the app bar. I can’t do that natively in Adalo.

So my first thought was to hide the icon:

Then create a larger burger menu icon and put it in the app bar:

But when I preview there’s no burger menu:

I thought maybe it was a layering thing so I brought the icon to the front and sent the app bar to the back. Still no dice.

Feels like I’m missing something here!

Hi Kmm,

Group the icon and the app bar together then go to “Edit Styles” then fix it to the top.

Thx @James_App_Maker. Why does fixing the group to the top work?

I think it’s because it groups it to the top with the app bar so it shows on the top so when the user scrolls it’s fixed to the top with the app bar. Btw, the app bar is fixed to the top by default.

Yeah that part makes sense. But I’m wondering why it’s not even visible unless the group is fixed to the top. That part doesn’t make sense to me.

It’s probably because when the icon is in the app bar it has to be fixed to the top.

Hmm… maybe my brain is too small but that doesn’t explain why the icon isn’t visible, especially when scrolled to the top of the screen.

If you want a more official response, I would suggest you submit a support ticket, but tbh it wouldn’t be worth the time to fill out the form for something like this.

Sorry if I wasn’t that helpful for the reasoning of this!

No worries @James_App_Maker, you did your best and helped me solve the problem, which I’m grateful for - thank you!

I just don’t love magic incantations when using my tools. If I understand why something works it helps me flesh out my mental model of how the tool works.

Yeah I don’t know the exact answer to why that’s the workaround but it took me a couple of hours to figure out that workaround, it was a couple of fonts ago btw.
