I have checked that thread because you said that you have the same problem and it’s about filtering the subcategories drop-down with the categories drop-down!
You can do this thing easily in a custom form with two drop-downs but not possible within a built in form! This video may help you : Filter Subcategories With Categories.mp4 - Google Drive ( Used a custom form )
