Adalo - 2024 and beyond

Hi James!

It would be awesome if you tell us what are the new features we have if we migrate the app. If it is better for you, you can tell more about that in our email equipocasaclick@gmail.com

@KlicIT - yes, both from developers in our Adalo community and also from Adalo ourselves for free. Once we get past infrastructure and performance, our whole team frees up again to work on features and components and templates and bugs

@Santiago Migration consists of running a script to migrate your apps from one set of infrastructure to another. Your app goes read-only for 1-5 minutes. We are also adding database optimizations to give you a further boost after migration is complete. We’re seeing 1000 record tables loading instantly  Email me (james.crennan@adalo.com) if you want those apps migrated–tell me which ones and please delete any apps that you no longer need.

@Gon13 You will receive 0 new features once you migrate. Your speed should at least 3x and you will gain far greater stability. Features will start rolling out once we complete the migration and get everyone’s apps running fast. Canny will become our roadmap at that point, starting with Deep Linking!

Best,
James

This is a great step forward James, credit to yourself and your team for the hard work

Do users get notified when they are migrated over to the new infrastructure?

@james.crennan these are unbelievable steps forward and I really look forward to seeing the fruits of your labour !!

Curious to know, for those that use Xano, or alternative backend, will these infrastructure upgrades improve things on the front end (not apps with Adalo DB).

Keep up the great work and I really look forward to hearing about what’s in store :ok_hand::raised_hands::fire:

Hi all - we’ve just made another announcement over here

have the same question actually. using xano for 2 of my apps. I think the caching feature would be great since I usually have to close my app and restart when I click the Back button.

Regarding performance with Xano - yes you will see an improvement. We’ve found that the number of JS files alone that are loaded into our builder are cause for latency, and we’ll be cutting them out with a view for speed. Caching will obviously improve things, and as I mentioned in my other announcement post, the performance of all applications whether built on Adalo or not will also be dependent on the layout complexity, how much logic is used on each screen, and so forth.

We’re leaning into this, starting with a tool that can analyze your application and assign it a performance score (0-100 with 100 being best). We’ll be releasing a guide to help increase your app speed, and have seen remarkable impact with relatively minor changes (i.e. swapping out a custom list for a simple list). My intent is to enable AI chat to guide everyone through building, or editing, with a view on performance, and creating a ‘pre-flight check’ to score your app before you publish. We just want to test, test, test to ensure we’re giving data to you backed by performance benchmarks. More on this soon.

In the meantime, we’re 20% through the infrastructure migration, which was undoubtedly the biggest, baddest blocker for most apps relating to performance speed. Certainly for stability (only a year ago, there were posts in these forums about data losses for 3 days. That’s now a thing of the past.)

Thanks! Really looking forward to the changes.

Is it just me or the bugs in the editor’s text boxes have been fixed (after 5 years)?
Even little details like this make a big difference. Great work!

Congratulations on your appointment as the new CEO of Adalo! Your leadership marks an exciting chapter for the company, and I’m confident your vision and expertise will drive incredible growth and innovation. Wishing you great success in this new role!

Can I help somehow with it? Or suggest some stuff based on my customer’s request
