Hi @pford
Thanks for these vidoes (and the others ones on your channel). Theyâre really helpful.
I have a question about the 3rd Video - could you elaborate why you made the âcancelâ icon a list unlike the other icons? Would it have been possible to keep âcancelâ a simple button and add a âDeleteâ Action for that specific âRequestâ?
Thanks!
Good question. If you just simply try to add a button, youâll find that thereâs no way to specify which request you want to delete because thereâs no request data available on that screen. The only way to access data (other than the global data of âLogged in userâ) in Adalo is through lists.
Got it.
But I think its also reflecting the manner in which you implemented your UX right?
I mean - if you wanted to âacceptâ the request on the same screen, you wouldâve made the âAcceptâ icon a list as well with the same filters. Alternatively, if you created an action to link to a new screen when a user clicks on âcancelâ icon, its going to be possible to implement the same user flow for âcancelâ as you did for âacceptâ connection.
At least I think that what Iâm thinking is right.
In any case, creating a list out of anything (including an icon) kind of boggles the mind but is incredibly useful trick you pointed out. My 2nd favorite to learn from your videos, after using a âblank screenâ with no transition. I use it a lot to update forms, force link to previous page instead of going back, prompting user to âauto-updateâ same page by clicking a button linking to a couple of blank screens.
Weâre all learning a lot from your videos. Many thanks and keep them coming!
Hi Patrick, Iâm not sure if this is a common issue, but for some reason something seems to go wrong when I send multiple friend requests⌠The three icons (add friend, pending, and delete) seem to jump between visibility when sending multiple friend requests. So for instance, I will send a friend request to friend 1, the icon will switch to the pending icon as expected, but when I send another friend request to friend 2, friend 1 icon switches back to the âfriend requestâ icon and they seem to get jumbles. Is this as issue with the code?
Also happening with me
Hi Patrick, I followed your request and follow-up tutorial step by step. But the âsyncâ button doesnât work for me, I donât use an icon instead I made a âpendingâ button (pendiente). When I select âfollowâ (seguir), the âfollowâ button disappears and sends the request to the other user, who I also verified that it reaches him. But the âsync / pendingâ button doesnât appear. And finally, when a request that reaches the user is eliminated, the âfollowâ button does not appear again available. Could you help me?
I am sending you this video showing you the configuration of all the buttons.
can you detect what iâm doing wrong?
Thanks!!
Best Regards
