Performance matter ; is back-end needed?

Hello,

I did some research through the forum about backend after being advised to use back-end if the app was expected to host few hundreds products. It is not easy to find a clean cut opinion about it.

For instance, Adalo is great, it’s just for me a matter of performance. I’m concerned that the app keeps slowing as users add products.
The other problem I encounter is filtering results by keywords that are still tedious and I guess a back end could help. However, it seems Adalo will release a best way to filter results in January.
For the rest, Adalo features are enough for what I need.

Is a back-end really required ? Is it not creating slowdowns because of external collections ?
Have you tried Directus or Xano ?

Thanks a lot
