Real-time Location Tracking Possible?

Hello,

Is there a way to constantly track users’ location in real-time using Adalo? I would need this to be done even when not on app screen.

Thank you,
Chelsea

Hi @chelseatcarter,

Unfortunately there is no easy and cheap way to do this in Adalo.

Best regards, Victor.

For real-time tracking, you might need a web sockets component. I remember that @Mitch-Pragmaflow developed a similar solution for chat, which included sender and receiver files. Although it was designed for messaging, the concept is the same—you can transmit instant coordinates between both ends. Here’s the link for you to check out and see if it fits your needs:

I don’t believe pragmaflow’s components are really any good anymore. Pragmaflow doesn’t work with Adalo anymore, and their components are all several years old.

They did great work, I really wish they’d come back!

Thanks everyone for the replies. I agree with @Skuccy that there is not much support for the Pragmaflow components. I’m going to create a web app using the HTML5 Geolocation API instead. Thanks!

I understand your point. However, if you read and understood my message, you might have noticed that I provided him with directions for a possible solution. I wasn’t simply saying, “Hey, here’s a component; use it and you’re good to go!”

As component creators, we all recognize that the Pragmaflow repository is an excellent example of the cool things that can be achieved. Nonetheless, we also understand that it primarily consists of legacy code that requires updates and improvements to work with Adalo’s new CLI and API.

That being said, I really don’t see any point in your comment. Is it just to say it’s worthless looking at the example, or do you have any other idea of how he can achieve his intended solution?

I feel like you may have taken this way too personally. I wasn’t trying to downplay your post, or whatever. My point was to say, spending time attempting to set up Pragma Flow’s component, would not be worth the time as it simply will not work.

Had you said “this package no longer works on Adalo, as Pragma Flow has halted their development and upkeep with Adalo components, but the idea of it may be something to consider” - it would have been a more realistic response.

You didn’t mention anywhere that they should not actually try to specifically use the component, as it will not work. I understand you provided him with the basis of how the logic flows, but you did essentially say pragmaflow has a component for that.

Again I think you might have taken my response a bit too personally. My response was to save them time from trying to learn how Pragma Flow’s component works, when it doesn’t.

No worries guys! It’s all good. By the way, I am a woman lol. Thanks for your help.

Your are right. Sorry.
